A spectacular fire broke out on Thursday December 5, 2024, around 5:30 p.m., in an abandoned building of the former technical services of the City of Plœmeur (Morbihan), boulevard François-Mitterrand. Firefighters managed to prevent the fire from spreading to an adjoining building and quickly brought the fire under control. No casualties were reported.

Investigations continue

According to our information confirmed by the police, a homeless man, known in the town, and who was squatting in this building, was arrested and taken into custody. He was placed in detention to serve another sentence. Investigations are continuing to determine the exact circumstances of the fire. A fight reportedly broke out between him and other men.

According to the mayor, the demolition of this disused building should begin at the beginning of the year.
