Farewell. This Tuesday, PSV Eindhoven played the sixth match of the Champions League group stage against Stade Brestois, a match which marked Hirving “Chucky” Lozano’s final appearance in the European competition.
As the Mexican striker prepares to become San Diego’s new MLS player, he is unlikely to play another match in the Champions League.
Lozano came on in the 73rd minute, but could not prevent PSV’s 1-0 defeat against Brestois.
During the first half, scoring opportunities were rare, most coming from PSV players. Despite their dominance, the Dutch team managed only three shots on target in the first 30 minutes, while the home side failed to register a single attempt. Eindhoven also controlled possession, but lacked the most crucial element: goals.

However, Brest took advantage of their opportunity in the 43rd minute. On a foul play, a cross from Baldé was converted into a goal by Julien Le Cardinal, giving the home team a 1-0 lead just before half-time. In the second half, coach Peter Bosz made changes to try to turn things around. He brought in Joey Veerman and Richy Ledezama, but chose to keep Chucky Lozano on the bench, the circumstances of the meeting not seeming ideal for his farewell to Europe.
In the 67th minute, PSV had a crucial chance when the referee awarded a penalty in their favor. However, after a VAR review, the decision was overturned, frustrating the Dutch team’s hopes of an equalizer.
Finally, in the 73rd minute, Hirving “Chucky” Lozano entered the field to the applause of fans and gestures of support from his teammates. This match marked the Mexican striker’s farewell to European football.
