Around 2:15 p.m., Quebec firefighters fought a fire in a building at 37 rue Sainte-Ursule in Old Quebec.
According to the first information, firefighters were called for flames visible on the exterior cladding at the rear of the building.
According to witnesses from employees of a nearby construction site, there were flames on the exterior wall and in the roof.
Following the information, a second alarm was sounded, then a third and nearly 50 firefighters are currently on site trying to control the fire which is in the structure of the building which is more than a century old.
The work was difficult and the firefighters had to deal with a roof with a steep metal slope and it was a narrow area.
This is an old building built in 1807 for quarryman Richard Goldsworthy.
No person was inconvenienced or injured during the intervention.
The building cannot be re-entered after the firefighters have left
The Fire Department is on site to determine the origin and most likely cause of the fire.
