Many gray areas persist after the discovery, on the evening of Friday December 6, 2024, of the lifeless body of a 7-year-old child found at his home in Montluel, in Ain. The child died of blows from “at least one person. Three members of his family (his mother, his uncle and his aunt) were taken into police custody on Sunday December 8.
The child’s mother, as well as his uncle and aunt, will be presented to a judge this Monday, December 9, indicates the Bourg-en-Bresse prosecutor’s office, which decided to open an investigation of the heads of “violence against a minor aged 15 leading to death without intention of causing it (…) by an ascendant or a person having authority over the victim against“.
Judicial information also concerns the facts of “non-assistance to a minor aged 15 in danger and false reporting to a judicial or administrative authority leading to unnecessary research against the uncle, mother and aunt of the deceased child“.
According to the prosecution, the judicial investigation should in particular make it possible to identify the perpetrator of the blows which led to the death of the child, uncertainties remaining at this stage.
The victim’s two brothers, who were present at the home, were the subject of a temporary placement order.
