With good audiences last year, with 700,000 viewers on average for season 4 (replay included), The Agency is back for a new season, the first two episodes of which are broadcast on TMC this Thursday, December 5. But then, have the Kretz family tired of viewers? This is the question we asked ourselves when writing Tele-Leisure…And which sparked debate! Our journalists Agathe Moreaux and Laura Benon do not agree and explain why.
The Agency saison 5 : “The reality TV part has unfortunately taken precedence over real estate”
“Halfway between documentary and reality TV, The Agency understood, for a long time, that its main asset was not its luxurious residences, but his siblings of four boys full of ambition. In fact, over the seasons, including this fifth, the reality TV part has unfortunately taken precedence over real estatewith recurring family conflicts which seem more than usual to be fabricated. None of the Kretz being actors, some of these scenes sometimes even turn grotesque as the text seems (poorly) recited. As during this clash between Martin and his father regarding the arrival of a foreign investor in the company”explains Agathe Moreaux.
However, our journalist still takes great pleasure in discovering the exceptional real estate in the show but deplores that “the visits now serve as a pretext for sequences of confessions, like this private mansion located at the foot of the Eiffel Tower, during which Olivier Kretz, the head of the familywill evoke with tenderness the future of his youngest son, Raphael.” And to conclude: “While each member of the tribe is eager to explore other countries (the United States, Brazil, Spain, etc.), the weekly show risks losing its DNA by seeing the clan scattered.”
The Agency (TMC) : “Everything that got me hooked on this reality documentary is found in season 5”
“On paper, the Kretz family could have quickly annoyed me with their ever more luxurious real estate. But the clever mix between the professional success story and the personal setbacks of its members ended up endearing them to me. How can we not identify with them given the (numerous) arguments between brothers or the difficulties they encounter in their life as a couple?says Laura Benon. According to her, you will not be disappointed by season 5. “Everything that made me addicted to this reality docu can be found in this new burst of episodes. If season 4 of The Agency saw the breakup of the Kretz family with Valentin’s departure for New York and of Louis in Barcelonathe two brothers will meet again for a major event: the 90th anniversary of their grandmother, Majo“she explains before saying a little more about the specificities of this edition.
“I even ended up being seduced by these unusual residences which will continue to amaze you, from Monaco to Rio de Janeiro. Without forgetting those on the shores of Lake Como, in Italy, which made me caress the sweet dream of one day acquiring a second home. We once again appreciate the presence of a few celebrities who spice up the program. For example, the clan will have to find the rare gem for ex-basketball player Tony Parker, who is looking for a castle in Charente and who has many requirements. But nothing is impossible for the Kretzes!”she concludes.
