On Wednesday, December 4, Donald Trump appointed Jared Isaacman, billionaire and first private astronaut to perform a spacewalk, to head NASA.
“Driver of NASA’s mission of discovery and inspiration”
On his social network Truth Social, Donald Trump revealed: “I am delighted to nominate Jared Isaacmanan accomplished business leader, philanthropist, pilot and astronaut, as Administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)”. As reported by French media like Le Figarothe president-elect added: “Jared will be the driving force behind NASA’s mission of discovery and inspiration, paving the way for groundbreaking achievements in science, technology and space exploration.”.
At 41 years old, Jared Isaacman established itself as a major figure in commercial spaceflight thanks to its projects with SpaceX. Born in Pennsylvania, he founded Shift4 Payments at just 16 years old, out of his family’s basement. An experienced pilot, he is proficient in piloting military aircraft, has participated in numerous air shows and holds a world record for a round-the-world airplane flight.

Defender of SpaceX and Elon Musk
Jared Isaacman is a key player in the development of the space economy, dreaming of a future where many people live and work in space. In September, he made history by conducting the first private spacewalk as part of the Polaris program, a joint initiative with SpaceX comprising three missions.
In 2021, he financed the Inspiration4 mission, a civilian orbital flight, by investing 200 million dollars (190 million euros) of his personal fortune. Defender of SpaceX and Elon Musk, he is also involved in government projects aimed at improving the efficiency of public institutions.
