The case is now before the summary judge. Faced with the refusal of Rural Coordination to remove its posters, the animal protection association One Voice filed a complaint and took the union to court. One Voice denounces a financial incentive for the poaching of a protected species. “For now, all we can do is prevent this bonus offer from continuing to be distributed,” indicates Maître Coline Robert, lawyer for the association.

The posters were reportedly removed from social media at the end of November. In court this Wednesday afternoon, the lawyer for Rural Coordination pleaded “attack on freedom of expression” but did not wish to answer our questions. “It’s pure and harsh censorship”he denounced, asking that One Voice be condemned for abusive procedure.

The judgment was reserved until January 8, 2025. As a reminder, the slaughter of this protected species is punishable by three years of imprisonment and a fine of 150,000 euros. More than 196,000 sheep are raised in Haute-Vienne. Rural Coordination assures that around fifty sheep have been killed by wolves since 2021.
