New version of the Club World Cup, the 2025 edition will pit 32 teams against each other. Among the twelve European representatives, there is only one French club, Paris Saint-Germain. Qualified thanks to its UEFA ranking, the Ile-de-France club even has a significant advantage. Currently sixth in this ranking behind Liverpool and FC Barcelona, who will not participate in the competition (European countries are limited to two teams, editor’s note), Paris Saint-Germain is one of the four European teams in hat 1 with Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Manchester City.

A seeded status which allows Ile-de-France residents to consider a fairly affordable draw. Indeed, in hat 2, Paris Saint-Germain will not be able to face Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan and FC Porto. These four clubs will be opposed to the 4 South American teams in hat 1 (Flamengo, Palmeiras, River Plate and Fluminense). Thus, Paris Saint-Germain’s first opponent will be either Atlético de Madrid, Benfica, Juventus or Red Bull Salzburg.
PSG can expect an affordable draw
Rather advantaged in this respect, Paris Saint-Germain will be able to come up against opponents at a fairly homogeneous level in hat 3 with the Saudi Arabian Champion Al-Hilal, Al-Ahly, last winner of the African Champions League, or Botafogo recent winner of the Copa Libertadores. As for hat 4, however, it will surely be simpler despite the presence of Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami or the winner of the Asian Champions League, Al-Ain.

Thus, Paris Saint-Germain could end up with Atlético de Madrid, Al-Hilal and Inter Miami or Juventus, Botafogo and Al-Ain in the event of a difficult draw. On the other hand, the Parisians could also find themselves with a group made up of Red Bull Salzburg, Club León and Auckland City. The wait is only a few hours for Paris Saint-Germain to find out when the competition will start. The Club World Cup will take place from June 15 to July 13, 2025, and the 32 teams will be divided into 8 groups of 4 teams. The first two will qualify to join the knockout phase at the 1/8 final stage.
