This Wednesday morning, December 4, in the Mayne area, in Saint-Vite, smoke was still rising from the remains of the Fernandes automobile garage. The establishment, owned by a craftsman who has been involved in the area for many years, a 1,000 m² building, was ravaged by flames. Around thirty cars, belonging to individuals and the garage, were also completely or partially destroyed.
Firefighters remained on watch for part of the day to ward off another fire. The gendarmes, given the risk of collapse of what remains of the structure, were unable to carry out the first technical investigations in order to determine the origin and circumstances of the fire. The presence of paint and solvent would explain the size of the fire. Eight people should be placed on technical unemployment.
36 firefighters had been mobilized the day before, in the evening, to fight the impressive fire which was contained a little before 11 p.m. Four lances, a large ladder and a drone were deployed; four trucks, including two large capacity water carriers, mobilized.
