Reassuring news after the fire at the “Sanglier des Ardennes” in Durbuy: “We do not intend to waste our time”

After the fire which partially destroyed the hotel-restaurant “Le Sanglier des Ardennes”, part of the establishment will reopen on Thursday, despite damage estimated in millions of euros.

Part of the hotel-restaurant “Le Sanglier des Ardennes”, in the heart of Durbuy, will reopen tomorrow/Thursday after the violent fire which partly ravaged the establishment on Monday evening. This is the historic wing with 22 rooms. “We have received the agreement for the reopening”indicates Benoit Bronckart, CEO of La Petite Merveille, in charge of all the activities of Flemish businessman Marc Coucke in Durbuy.

The team hopes to reopen ten to twenty rooms located in the new wing, affected Monday evening by the fire at the Wagyu restaurant, over the next week. “We work hard on it”pour suit Benoit Bronckart. “The roof was also temporarily covered so that it would be dry and warm.”

The CEO specifies that from Thursday, hotel guests will also be able to use the breakfast room, the La Bru’sserie restaurant, the wellness facilities and another hotel of the group, the Saint-Amour . “The wine cellar is also intact.” Before the fire, the luxury hotel had 97 rooms, many of which, however, cannot yet be rented. A heavy commercial loss for the company, because according to the CEO, December is a flagship month, with the Durbuy Christmas market. “We were even full for the Christmas holidays”he specifies.

In addition to commercial losses, there is also material damage. These amount to millions of euros, explains Benoît Bronckart. “The roof was damaged, but the heating, electricity, etc. will also have to be repaired.”. The hotel hopes to be able to undertake major work in January, a traditionally quiet month. “We hope to be ready again by the Easter holidays. It’s not yet certain, but we don’t intend to waste our time.”

Guests will be kept informed of their reservation by the hotel’s sales team. “Fortunately, we are receiving a lot of understanding and support”rejoices Benoît Bronckart.
