Inflation of 5.4% for fruits in one year

According to the analysis, Conference pears are now “overpriced”, after a 2024 season influenced by poor harvests. In one year, the average price of a kilo of pears increased from 2.37 euros to 2.83 euros, therefore increasing by 26%. On average, fruits experienced inflation of 5.4% compared to November 2023.

Chocolate and olive oil have had high prices for a long time. Currently, 100 grams of dark chocolate costs around 1.50 euros, compared to 1.15 euros last year and 1.03 euros in January 2022, Testachats figures. The average price of a liter of olive oil is now closer to 13 euros, compared to 8.94 euros in January 2022.

Some products still show a falling price, such as pine nuts, which are now cheaper than before the inflation crisis, or wet wipes. According to the consumer organization, food inflation has continued to increase since last June. Since January 2022, it has never even fallen below 2%. “This trend has a direct impact on consumers: filling a shopping cart costs 28% more today than in January 2022,” illustrates Testachats.
