Google is ending the year well by enriching its services, notably Maps which retrieves incident reporting from Waze for total interoperability. But the Mountain View firm is not forgetting the hardware with the update of the Pixel Troubleshooting application to monitor the temperature of your Pixel smartphone while the ranges will benefit from several years of security updates.
Your Pixel alerts you in case of overheating

While the Pixel 9 improves the situation, it does not solve overheating. Certainly, the next Tensor processors will improve this point but we have to live with it while waiting for their release. So, Google has been rolling out temperature monitoring for your smartphone since Settings > Battery > Battery diagnostics. Next, navigate to the device's temperature monitoring options to access detailed information. The indicator is colored and consists of four levels: cold, normal, hot and high.
Suffice to say that this is good news for users of Pixel smartphones who, in the future, will change their strategy to focus on autonomy. In the event of overheating, alert notifications are displayed. If there is a slight increase, the brightness and network speed are reduced. If the temperature increases, charging stops. In critical cases, the Pixel limits its performance and disables certain features.
Advice accompanies these alerts: close unused applications, improve air circulation around the smartphone or just… stop using it. Even if, between us, the relevance of this functionality poses a problem. In general, we realize when our Pixel is a little too hot, the precise measurement is of little use.
The update is available from the Play Store. If you have a Pixel 8 Pro running Android 15 QPR beta, it is possible to access it from the Pixel Troubleshooting application.
