The Kabanamuzik association brought together its members on Saturday, November 30 for its general assembly. The association had, during the 2023-2024 school year, 195 members. The trend is downward, with today 30 fewer members. “This is explained by the elimination of violin lessons but there is also a drop among young people, it is perhaps the Olympic effect with departures towards sport,” explains Sabine Le Héno, the president.

“Today, we have no cash”

“Our big concern is the financial side. We saved ourselves last year and paid off our Urssaf balance (€22,000) which had been running since Covid. We also funded the retirement of three of our music teachers. Today, we have no cash flow. We live day by day,” declares Nadine Le Boëdec, the treasurer.

The association solicits donations with tax receipts (tax deductible).

The regulars always there

On the teaching side, the association continues to welcome members of the Le Chêne life center and Esat in their workshops. “20% of our members have a disability,” explains Ms. Le Héno. Kabanamuzik also opened up to the city contract districts by offering percussion and singing workshops in Kerfréhour.

Kabanamuzik will offer an audition at the media library on March 15 and its end-of-year show on May 17.
