The driver, involved in the fatal accident which occurred on Saturday November 30, around 1:30 a.m., in Surzur (Morbihan), was placed in pre-trial detention. Around 1:30 a.m., he hit a 21-year-old moped rider and fled. The victim, who was returning from work, did not survive his injuries.
Arrested and placed in police custody, the driver, domiciled in Surzur, was indicted as part of an investigation opened by the prosecution to “involuntary homicide by the driver of a land motor vehicle, committed with at least two aggravating circumstances: obvious drunkenness and hit-and-run”, indicates the Vannes prosecutor, Maxime Antier.
This 27-year-old man, already convicted of road traffic offenses, was therefore imprisoned, in accordance with the prosecutor's orders.
For these facts (involuntary manslaughter by the driver of a land motor vehicle committed with at least two aggravating circumstances), he faces up to 10 years of imprisonment and a fine of €150,000.
