A teenager causes an explosion in his school in Angers: he wanted to reproduce an experience seen on TikTok

Three schoolchildren were injured in the explosion and taken to hospital in , the teenager who was at the origin was summoned to the children's court.

An explosion occurred in the Jean Lurnait college, in Angers (Maine-et-), around 10 a.m. during recess, Wednesday November 27, 2024. A bottle of acid thrown in the boys' toilets is believed to be the cause. A chain reaction led to an explosion which injured three students, who were taken to hospital. Their condition was not serious, but the incident could have been more devastating.

An experience seen on TikTok

Friday, November 29, two college students were arrested, reports 3. One was released, the second would be the main person responsible for the explosion. The 15-year-old teenager was presented before a children's judge and will have to appear before the children's court on January 7, 2025.

While waiting to be confronted with justice, the schoolboy must respect a provisional educational measure. The Angers public prosecutor, Eric Bouillard, explained that the teenager had justified his action because of a video from the social network TikTok. He had wanted to reproduce the experiment.

A child between life and death by wanting to do like on TikTok

There are times and places to clearly define before wanting to reproduce what we see on the internet, notably TikTok which is a social network which attracts a lot of young people. On Wednesday November 27, an 11-year-old child seriously fell from an escalator in a Parisian shopping center because he wanted to act like he was in a video. He was rushed to hospital in an absolute emergency; he was between life and death when he was taken into care.
