With all the good hopes of the Canadian all over the world, we can forget some of them.
This is the case of Bogdan Konyushkov, who is a good defender at just 21 years old.
The problem with Konyushkov is that he plays in a mysterious league and his future is just as mysterious. We have no idea if he will ever make it to the NHL. And at the moment in his country, he seems to be enjoying it. He was invited to the KHL All-Star Game.
He is one of the youngest players who will be present, having been one of the 16 players elected by the fans.
Of this group of 16 players, he is the youngest and the only athlete under 24 years old. We know how mature the young man is for his age. The title of captain may have been taken away from him, but he was still named and at 21 years old, in a professional league where young people don’t have their place, it’s impressive.
Speaking of young people who don’t have their place, Ivan Demidov was ignored at the All-Star Game by both the media and the fans. It was to be expected… After all, he hardly plays and he was left on the bench during his entire match recently.
In 31 games, he has 20 points, which is not bad at all. It must be said that the St. Petersburg SKA already has two representatives: Evgeny Kuznetsov and Tony DeAngelo.
As for Konyushkov, he has eight points, including one goal in 31 games.
He has never been recognized for his offensive play, although he is more of a general on the blue line. The proof: he has a plus-3 record with Nizhny Novgorod Torpedo.
However, we should not worry about his offensive game, especially in the event that he comes to Montreal. Lane Hutson (and Matthew Schaeffer, hopefully) will provide the offense.
Last spring, the CH prospect had shoulder surgery, which could explain his drop in production.
