Colombian coach Hernán ‘Bolillo’ Gómez, former coach of Colombia and Ecuador, will take the reins of the Technical University of Cajamarca (UTC) in the 2025 football championship, following the departure of Argentinian Carlos Ramacciotti , announced the Peruvian club this Friday, November 29.
“A new chapter begins at UTC. We welcome our new Technical Command for the 2025 season,” the club said on its social media channels.
The 68-year-old manager, who will begin his first experience in Peruvian football, will be accompanied by Edgar ‘Pacer’ Carvajal and Tomás Mauro Reyes as technical assistants, while seasoned professional Diego Barragán will supervise the physical preparation.
It is worth noting that ‘Bolillo’ Gómez arrives at UTC after coaching Colombian club Águilas Doradas in the Colombian First Division, where he recorded a disappointing record of 4 wins, 5 draws and 6 losses before leaving the club at the end of March.

After finishing his playing career, Gómez started as assistant coach to Francisco ‘Pacho’ Maturana at Atlético Nacional, then with the Colombian national team during the 1990 and 1994 World Cups.
The Technical University of Cajamarca will be the sixth club managed by ‘Bolillo’ after his moves to Atlético Nacional, Santa Fe, Independiente Medellín, Junior de Barranquilla and Águilas Doradas de Rionegro.
Gómez has not only coached at club level, but has also been head coach of national teams, including Guatemala, Colombia, Panama, Ecuador and Honduras. Throughout his career as a national coach, the Colombian tactician had the opportunity to participate in several World Cups.
With Colombia, he participated in the 1998 World Cup in France, followed by the 2002 World Cup with Ecuador, and his last World Cup experience came with Panama in the 2018 event in Russia.
Regarding the UTC, which will be managed by Hernán Darío, it is known that the team finished near the bottom of the Peruvian championship in 2024, collecting only 31 points for the year, scoring 35 goals while conceding 53, all in the national tournament.
