Death of Yannick Alléno’s son: the driver of the car sentenced to seven years in prison

The criminal court sentenced this Thursday the man responsible for the death of the chef’s son Yannick Alléno to seven years in prison. In May 2022, while driving a powerful car, he hit Antoine Alléno. The president of the court requested a deferred committal warrant so that the convicted man could “organize” his incarceration. His driving license is canceled and he is banned from retaking it for five years.

The president of the court insisted on “risky behaviors multiplied in a thoughtless manner“of the motorist to explain this sentence. A sanction however less heavy than that requested by the prosecution at the end of October, which asked for eight years in prison. “The sentence is linked to the seriousness of the facts and the multiplicity of the offenses“, insisted the president.

Drunk, without a license, at 120 km/h in the streets of Paris

On May 8, 2022, the man was driving, drunk, without a license in an Audi RS6, a powerful sedan stolen earlier in the evening, at 120 km/h in the streets of the 7th arrondissement of Paris, limited to 30. He hit a VTC, then a taxi at a red light. He then lost control of the car and hit a scooter, driven by Antoine Alléno, aged 24, who had succumbed to his injuries.

This Thursday, during the judgment, the driver of the car was found guilty of all the facts, including involuntary manslaughter with two aggravating circumstances, for involuntary injuries against the passenger of the scooter who had been injured, and for theft with violence from the car. The driver’s brother-in-law and father-in-law, tried for complicity in aggravated theft, were released this Thursday afternoon.

Since this tragedy, Yannick Alléno has become an ardent defender of the creation of an offense of “road homicide”, a bill which was to pass a second reading in the National Assembly, before dissolution in June.
