The sprint race of the 2023 Qatar Formula 1 Grand Prix, contested on the Lusail circuit, was marked by the victory of Oscar Piastri (McLaren), who achieved his first success in this racing formula. After starting from the front row, he dominated the race thanks to excellent tire management.
Max Verstappen, with a second place finish, secured his third F1 world championship title. The consistent and methodical Dutchman needed just a few points to clinch his third world title ahead of Sunday’s main race.

Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri’s McLaren teammate, completed the podium after a difficult start. McLaren’s strategy and the competitiveness of their cars were the strong points of this race. Ferrari and Mercedes also put on a show, including Charles Leclerc and George Russell.
The race was also marked by the collision of Sergio Pérez, Esteban Ocon and Nico Hülkenberg.
