Louis Sylvio Humbert Coco, 44, died Tuesday after an explosion during welding work on a waste water tank in New Grove. The autopsy concluded that he had suffered serious burns, while his employer, injured in the eye, was hospitalized in Moka.
The accident suffered by Louis Sylvio Humbert Coco took place in the courtyard of a garage in Deux-Bras, New Grove, where he was in the company of the owner of the premises, also his employer. While carrying out welding work on a waste water tank when an explosion occurred. Unfortunately, he did not survive. His employer, for his part, suffered an eye injury. However, he rushed Humbert Coco to the Jawaharlal Nehru hospital in Rose-Belle. Unfortunately, it was too late. The forty-year-old had already given up the ghost.
This tragedy plunged his family into mourning, including his aunt, Liliane Alphonse, living at Résidence Mangalkhan. Louis Sylvio, affectionately nicknamed Dadoune by those close to him, was very popular. “It was my son who called me to ask for the number of Dadoune’s mother. He then informed me that my nephew had died in an explosion,” she says, still upset by this tragedy.
Without wasting time, Liliane alerted Margarette, the victim’s mother, who lives in Case-Noyale. “When I told her this sad news, she was shocked,” confides the aunt. The Rose-Belle police then contacted Liliane, who went to the station to begin the process.
According to her, the owner of the garage said he would take care of all the formalities. “I wanted to understand what had happened. I was told that my nephew was working under a truck doing welding work when the tank, although empty, exploded,” she explains.
An explosion that shook the village
The detonation was so powerful that it shook the entire village, pushing several residents to leave their homes to understand the cause. Some even believed it was linked to the Mare-Chicose fire. “I wonder if safety standards were respected,” laments an uncle of the victim, who wants all light to be shed on this tragedy.
Thursday morning, the autopsy carried out at Victoria Hospital in Candos concluded that the victim died from serious burns caused by the explosion. The Rose-Belle police investigation continues. The witnesses present at the time of the incident are currently being questioned. The hearing of the employer, who was admitted to Moka hospital, will take place as soon as his state of health allows it.
A man appreciated by all
“Dadoune had inherited his father’s house at Résidence Mangalkhan. He often came to see me. He was a bon vivant, a loving family man,” confides Liliane Alphonse. The funeral of Louis Sylvio Humbert Coco is scheduled for this Thursday noon in Case Noyale, where his mother resides.
