Little by little, residents who had to flee their homes under bombs returned to their towns and neighborhoods. Despite the enormous blows suffered and the massive destruction, the supporters of the Party of God are convinced: they have won the war.

Lebanon will have trembled until the end. Tuesday, November 26, as rumors about the conclusion of a much-hoped-for ceasefire became more pressing, the Israeli army increased in virulence. While images of bombings from Nabatieh, Tyre, Baalbek, Saida, and even Naqoura flooded the web, Beirut was perhaps experiencing its worst day since the start of the war.

The incessant evacuation orders no longer only concerned the Southern Suburbs, known as Dahieh: shortly before nightfall, several central districts of the capital found themselves in the eye of the storm.

The scenes of chaos that followed are difficult to describe: stunned, Beirut residents left their homes en masse, causing massive traffic jams. Simultaneously, the Israeli Prime Minister confirmed Israeli approval of the ceasefire proposal, set for the next morning at four o'clock. It was at this precise hour, in the middle of the night, that the noise of the bombs finally stopped.
