The European version of Aion Classic is deployed on the MMORPG's European servers. Among other new features, the update adds a new playable class (the Pugilist), as well as a new high-level area to explore.
Last year, the Classic version ofAion finally landed on the MMORPG's European servers. Since then, the game has been expanded with major updates – but without necessarily corresponding to those initially deployed on the original version of the game. Aion Classic has just evolved into 3.0 and although the patch does include an increase in the maximum level (you can now progress up to level 60), the content additions are new – starting with the new Pugilist class.
In the world of Atreia, the Pugilist has lost his memory. The mysterious Saraqael appears to help him remember his past and the memories gradually return to him: the Pugilists were once promising apprentices of a strange school, the Luminarium of Lacrima (a new starting instance reserved for Pugilists), where they underwent severe training. The school obviously houses heavy and secret titles, which will clearly have to be discovered… By following a special campaign, Budokas can unlock Pugilist abilities and thus access fast and brutal combat techniques, all dedicated to combat close-up – the Pugilist is armed with cests and equipped with leather armor.
To allow the Pugilist's abilities to fully express themselves, update 3.0 also adds a new area to explore, the Laphsaran region, with its share of content – brutal monsters, quests, fortress sieges and bosses worldwide. Among the lot, the Lord Subterraneum raid notably promises “eternal” class rewards – the instance is playable on Saturdays at 11:00 p.m. in theHabitat from Subterraneum to Laphsaran.
For PvP enthusiasts, the Dranium Battleground can accommodate two teams of six players who compete to accumulate points. We gain it by eliminating the players of the opposing team, but also NPCs or monsters but also by taking control of objects on site (in particular extraction devices which generate points continuously for the team which control). The location incorporates quests, strategic points of interest that grant buffs or access to hidden areas to obtain advantages in combat. But as soon as the commander of one of the two teams is defeated, the score is immediately calculated and the game ends.
For the curious, Aion Classic is distributed free-to-play and the game client can be downloaded from the official European website to discover this 3.0 update in practice.
