Former Tigers, Gabriel Gagné, found guilty of sexual assault

Former Victoriaville Tigres right winger Gabriel Gagné was found guilty of sexual assault Tuesday at the Montmagny courthouse.

The story dates back to July 2016.

According to several media reports, during a “ pool party », Gabriel Gagné “set a trap” for his victim by making her believe that her friend was sick in the basement. He followed her to, finally, find himself alone with her, the sick friend having never been there. He forced the victim to perform oral sex on him and then had full non-consensual sex with her.

Judge Hubert Couture, who presided over the session, “did not believe the attacker, who gave testimony unrealistic. » Gabriel Gagné maintained that he had had “consensual sexual relations and even initiated by the complainant. »

Gabriel Gagné was at large during the legal process. He is due back before the judge in January for sentencing.

Stories that repeat themselves

This is not the first time that the ex-hockey player has been in court.

He has already been found guilty of harassing and threatening an ex-lover. He was also convicted of computer luring and received six months in prison in 2023.

Gagné was recently acquitted in another sexual assault case that occurred in Trois-Rivières.

He is currently awaiting a verdict in a case of sexual assault, assault and threats.

His time with the Tigers

Gabriel Gagné played with the Victoriaville Tigres from 2012 to 2016. He made the playoffs three times with the Félins. He finished his career in the Maritimes Quebec Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with the Shawinigan Cataractes.

He was a second round pick of the Ottawa Senators in 2015. He continued his journey with the American Leagues and the Eastern League until 2021.

His hockey career ended following his run-ins with the law.
