The Mazé-Milon Municipal Council, Monday November 18, is one of these brief but effective sessions which sometimes punctuate the year. The beginning of the evening was devoted to reports concerning the Baugeois-Vallée Community of Communes.

On the subject of waste collection, Mélanie Beaudoin-Richard recalls that the bonus-malus system now applies from six visits. And if we notice a drop in waste collected in the territory, she emphasizes that This is mainly due to the shutdown of the Corné recycling center. Caroline Beretti then asks if this stop has caused an increase in illegal dumping, to which Mayor Christophe Pot responds: “ There are fewer of them, following all the work carried out, particularly with fines. I would also like them to be increased.

Another way to combat illegal dumping is the purchase of new plots of land on the edge of the Valinières woods, for more than 14,000 m². The mayor says: The owner wanted to give them away by making a symbolic euro donation, but it is important to give a reference for future purchases, by setting an amount (here 30 cents per m²).

Stolen copper cables

Other expenses were mentioned, such as those linked to public lighting: almost €7,000 linked to repairs and more than €8,000 partly due to stolen cables.

Here again, Christophe Pot intervenes: In our department, we have faced a lot of vandalism related to copper. The thieves set up shop like workers, in broad daylight. The prosecutor wants every citizen to notify the authorities in case of doubt. I also asked the Energy Union to change the system so that these thefts are no longer so easy.

Caroline Beretti asks what the status of the project for a possible municipal police officer was. The mayor replies that there should be more elements in early 2025.

Still on the financial side, the town hall is renewing its support for Aspire for resourcing to the tune of €0.50 per inhabitant for three years.

The responsible owner

A question from the public concerned the maintenance of the shoulders, particularly rue Grollay. The mayor explains: We have a concern about private hedges which are not maintained and which overflow, limiting visibility. It can be dangerous, especially near the intersection, and you should know that in the event of an accident, the owner of the hedges will be held responsible by law. For our part, we are going to have to act more severely, even if it bothers me to have to be more repressive.
