A man who allegedly shoplifted from a business on Boulevard l’Ormière finally had to be rescued by firefighters after falling into a 22-meter ravine in the Duberger–Les Saules district.
The Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) received a call around 5:15 p.m. for a suspect who had allegedly committed a theft.
After committing the theft, the suspect allegedly fled while being pursued by a security agent. He fled into the area behind the business and found himself at the corner of Avenue du Costebelle and Rue de Caen.
The security guard is a witness. He chases the individual through parking lots and sees the suspect jump over a fence
explains Sandra Dion, spokesperson for SPVQ.
The man found himself near a steep cliff and fell into the ravine where the Saint-Charles River flows.
Rescue operation
When the police arrived on the scene, they noticed that the individual was in a unfortunate position

Around twenty firefighters took part in the rescue operation. The man was finally extricated from the ravine shortly after 7 p.m.
