“LFI is not the same risk” as the RN, insists Marine Tondelier

Marine Tondelier has one priority, and one only: to prevent the National Rally from obtaining an absolute majority and governing France on Sunday evening. Five days before the second round of the legislative elections, the national secretary of EELV insisted on TF1 on Tuesday evening: “What must obsess us is that on July 8, we could have a far-right Prime Minister at Matignon.”

Marine Tondelier understands that some on the right and in the center “do not want” to vote for a candidate from the New Popular Front. But she recalls that in 2017 and in 2022, the left and the environmentalists “were there” by choosing Emmanuel Macron. She herself, in Hauts-de-France, supported Xavier Bertrand: “I didn’t do it with a smile, I didn’t do it with pleasure.”

Does she understand those who cannot bring themselves to support an LFI candidate? “La France insoumise is not the same (as the RN), and above all La France insoumise will not have the majority in the National Assembly, so it is not the same risk.”
