It’s the triggering of the special anti-fall bracelet of a 73 year old womanplaced under guardianshipwhich helped to highlight violence that the fils of the latter, aged 38, inflicted on him the June 27, 2024 has Saint-Denis-d’Orques (Sarthe).

While the latter had already been convicted of violence towards his mother placed under guardianship, the man has relapsed against a background of alcohol.

When questioned, the victim of 73 ans explains that she was bullied by her son: “He mistreats me (…) when he drinks, he can become mean.” The mother speaks of regular violence which lasted from December 1, 2023 to June 27, 2024.

“She’s the one playing with that bracelet.”

The son, who showed himself to be particularly aggressive with the curator of his mother and the law enforcementwho has been out of prison for a few months, said in police custody about the triggering of the teleassistance device: “She’s the one playing with this bracelet.”

When it is pointed out to him that his mother has signs of violence, he replies: “She marks quickly.”

“I don’t drink every day”

In court, the defendant, a tall, slim, blond man with impeccable hair, dressed in a gray sweater and dark jogging bottoms, appeared to be at the very least nonchalant, both in his posture (keeping his hands in his pockets throughout the hearing) and in his answers. “Do you have a drinking problem?” asked the presiding judge.

“I don’t drink every day,” replied the defendant, who added that to relax he started drinking and that on the day of the events he had not drunk more than average.

“The central problem in this case is the gentleman’s alcoholism,” declared the prosecutor, who requested a mixed sentence of 12 months in prison, including 6 months suspended with a 2-year probationary period, and 6 months in prison with continued detention.

The defendant’s lawyer requested an appropriate sentence for her client and highlighted his efforts to reintegrate while recalling the need for him to receive treatment.

15 months in prison

Found guilty, the accused has been sentenced to a mixed sentence of 15 months in prisonor 6 months suspended prison sentence and 9 months firm prison sentence. He remains in detention.
