At 36 chemin de la Petite-Boissière, the shock is still alive. The residents were rushing for a quick meal this Tuesday, November 26 in the morning. “Yes, this is where the explosion took place. We were not there,” they confirm, without wanting to express themselves further. “A little girl is terrible!” », said a neighbor. They pass through the hall, avoiding looking at the traces of the explosion. The row of mailboxes is completely gutted. On the far left, nothing remains of the three mailboxes lined up, only the iron frame, holes and some debris. The bay window in the hall, also damaged, was replaced by a white wooden panel.

A mailbox exploded on Monday November 25 around 4:15 p.m. in the Grange-Canal district, seriously injuring a 12-year-old girl. According to our colleagues from 20 minutes, a teenager was operated on for six hours during the night, and is now in intensive care at the University Hospitals of Geneva.

The area had been cordoned off and residents of neighboring buildings evacuated. The robot from the ENDEX detachment (Neutralization, removal, detection of explosive devices) intervened on site during a large-scale operation carried out by the cantonal police and the Geneva Fire and Rescue Service (SIS).

Two parcel bombs intended for employees of a watch factory

This explosion would be linked to a previous explosion, which took place on August 20 in the morning on rue Saint-Jean. The bomb had also been placed in a garbage bag, injuring a father in the legs. According to 20 minutes and the Tribune de Genève, the latter as well as the owner of the Petite-Boissière mailbox work in the same watch factory, Patek Philippe. According to our colleagues, the company itself had, in the past, received threats and parcel bombs.

The investigation was entrusted to the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office, responsible for the use of explosives. He had already taken over that of Saint-Jean. “No further information will be given at this time,” judicial authorities said.
