Messages of condolence have been pouring in since last Saturday’s tragedy. That afternoon, a 7-year-old child lost his life after drowning in a muddy expanse of water, below the Parc de l’Europe, located just behind the town hall of Épinay-sous-Sénart (Essonne). According to initial reports, the child was riding his bike in the park when he escaped the supervision of his uncle, who then started looking for him. It was only after several minutes that the child was discovered unconscious, his body partly submerged. “The preferred theory is an accident,” confirmed the Évry-Courcouronnes public prosecutor’s office on Monday.

Vivian is a “child with an endearing personality, his disappearance will leave a terrible void”, wrote Damien Allouch, the mayor (PS) of the town on his Facebook account. “Our hearts are obviously with the family in the worst ordeal that a mother, a father, a sister, a brother can experience, he continues. The pain is also immense for his classmates as well as for the teams of national education and the town hall who were with him on a daily basis for many years.”

A kitty launched for the benefit of the family

To support them, a psychological support unit has been set up for children and adults at the Croix Rochopt school where he was enrolled. For city officials, a support unit will also be set up. For parents of students or any other person who feels the need, a psychological emergency unit is being set up this Thursday, July 4 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Espace Sénart (room adjoining the Croix Rochopt school). A collection book has been open at the city hall since this Wednesday morning.

Finally, to help the family in this painful moment, a kitty entitled “For Vivian’s parents” was opened on the Internet platform Leetchi. Tuesday afternoon, more than 1,800 euros had already been collected. “All my support in this painful ordeal, comments a mother. Your son was in my daughter’s class all their years of kindergarten. It’s a terrible tragedy. Courage Rest in peace little Vivian”
