Saturday, November 16, the captain of the Limogne firefighters, Gérard Morel-Bassoul, after almost 38 years of dedicated service to the population, retired at 65, which is the age limit for firefighters. He had been the head of the Limogne center for 15 years and at the start of 2024 handed over his position to Lieutenant Fabrice Mercadier and his assistant Audrey Lecomte. A procession animated by flashing lights brought the captain from his home to the Limogne rescue center where there were more than 100 people, elected officials, colleagues, families of firefighters. Lhe deputy director of SDIS Lotois, Colonel Magry, was present. Gérard Morel-Bassoul who received medal of the Regional Union and the gold level medal of the Departmental Union, will be promoted, at Sainte-Barbe, to honorary commander. Speech by elected colleagues and distribution of gifts to the captain. A friendly and warm meal closed this wonderful event. The Limogne firefighters wish a happy retirement to their former head of the Center.
