The criminal court had very little taste for its staging. A forty-year-old employed in the green spaces service of the town of Lons, in Béarn, took a photo of himself with a fake shotgun to threaten his work colleagues, which triggered the Raid’s intervention on Friday in the small Béarnaise town

Tried in immediate appearance this Monday, he was sentenced to twelve months in prison, six of which with a reinforced probationary suspension, reports Sud-Ouest. The firm sentence was enhanced with the wearing of an electronic bracelet. The defendant’s record already contained five entries, linked to his addiction to alcohol.

Threatening text messages

At the hearing, he explained that he wanted to scare his colleagues, and in particular one of them, the target of particular resentment. He wrote to her: “don’t worry, we’ll see you on Monday, you’ll leave with one arm and one leg.” The SMS messages were sent back to the Pau police station by Lons police officers and were taken very seriously, because no one knew at the time that the weapon was fake.

The forty-year-old did not resist during his arrest and defended himself at his trial by arguing that he had never intended to commit the act.
