After a successful high altitude triptych, LOSC travels to Bologna to validate its top 24Wednesday. A match for which the refereeing body has officially been appointed.
Designated for the Bologna – LOSC meeting, Michael Oliver has already crossed paths with Lille in his career, which began in 2010. The 39-year-old official was on the whistle for the poor 0-0 between LOSC and Sevilla, in the group stage of the Champions League in 2021. It will be on the other hand a first for Bologna, returning to the Champions League this season 60 years after its last participation.
The English referee is much more experienced at this level. In recent years, it has established itself as a European leader. This season, he has already refereed three Champions League matches and three Premier League clashes (Aston Villa – Arsenal, Manchester City – Arsenal, Chelsea – Arsenal). Accustomed to high competitions, he led the quarter-final of Euro 2024 between Portugal and France, the UEFA Super Cup (Real Madrid – Frankfurt) in 2022) or, a little further still, the quarter of final of the 2022 World Cup between Croatia and Brazil.
