The Chiefs’ most recent victory in extremis did not lead to outpourings of joy from the main parties involved.

Patrick Mahomes seemed unmoved after Spencer Shrader’s last-second field goal against the Panthers on Sunday, a kick that gave Kansas City a 30-27 win.

Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Chris Jones and company shook hands on the field, but it was far from a jubilant group.

Perhaps the Chiefs are a little tired of the uncertainty of this kind of end of a match: it was their 12th victory in a row acquired by no more than seven points – it is the longest streak of its kind in the NFL history.

This season, five of their 10 victories have come on the last play.

Against Carolina, KC had 91 penalty yards, on 10 calls. Mahomes was the victim of five sacks; in four games, he has been tackled 15 times behind the line of scrimmage. Additionally, Bryce Young found a way to collect 263 passing yards.

“It’s always nice to win by a big margin,” Mahomes said. You want to be a little more relaxed in the last quarter. I would really like to achieve a victory that does not depend on the very last play.”

Mahomes still excelled with 269 air yards and three touchdown passes, without committing an interception.

Tight end Noah Gray delivered his second straight game with two touchdowns, dominating the Chiefs with 66 receiving yards.

A rookie passed over in the draft, Shrader was on the Jets’ practice squad a few weeks ago. He capitalizes on the opportunity provided by an injury to Harrison Butker: his field goal record is 3 for 3, and he was flawless on six converts.

Kansas City (10-1) remained undefeated in five matches against National clubs this season.

The Chiefs’ next game will be Friday at 3:00 p.m. at home, against the Las Vegas Raiders (2-9). This match will be presented on RDS2 and on RDS.ca.
