Ubisoft video games suffer with the latest Windows 11 update

Some Ubisoft games are experiencing stability and performance issues with the latest Windows 11 update, 24H2. The problem is such that Microsoft has suspended the deployment of the update on computers that have these games installed.

Microsoft has an unusual problem, and it's called Ubisoft. These days, several testimonies have started to appear on the internet. They concern Internet users who are unable to properly enjoy their games, after an update from Windows 11 to the most recent version of the operating system – the 24H2 branch, released on November 21, 2024.

The French studio acknowledged the existence of a compatibility problem the next day on one of its Steam pages: “ We are aware of an issue affecting PC gamers after Windows 24H2 Update. We are working to identify the root cause and resolve it. We thank you for your understanding. »

Five Ubisoft games affected by issues

Three days later, the problem is still not resolved. In the meantime, a decision has been made by Microsoft to suspend the deployment of the 24H2 update on computers that have certain Ubisoft games installed, the Bleeping Computer site learned in its November 23 edition. At this stage, the problem concerns five games from the publisher:

These five games are all quite recent (apart from AC Origins and Odyssey, older, because they were released in 2018) and are not supposed to have major problems with Windows 11, released in October 2021. However, Ubisoft admits that inconveniences are likely to occur. may occur if older games are launched on newer systems.

In its pages, Microsoft advises against trying to force the update to 24H2 manually until the problem is resolved – the best thing to do is to wait until a software patch is released. Players who take this route, however, risk having in-game stability or performance issues.

Among the incidents noted, there is a question of games crashing during launch, when loading or even directly during a game. A black screen may also appear on the monitor. If this happens, Microsoft recommends as a solution to kill the current game process through the task manager (the famous “Ctrl + Alt + Del”).
