In percentage terms, the far right is declining more than the left compared to Europeans. But in view of the 2022 legislative elections, the majority is clearly declining, the left is stagnating and the far right is soaring.

The day after the first round of elections on Sunday, which saw a record turnout (66.71%) since 1997, there is much debate about the developments in the various political blocs over the past two years.

In percentages, and studying the four blocs – left (excluding the far left), majority (with the center), right and finally extreme right (RN, “ciottistes”, Reconquête, Patriotes, etc.) –, the extreme right is the bloc that has fallen the most between the European elections and the first round of the legislative elections, losing nearly 3.5 points, going from 37.8% to 34.4% of the votes cast. The left has regressed by nearly two points (from 31.6% to 29.8%), the right has progressed by less than one point (from 9.6% to 10.2%), and the majority has seen a strong progression of nearly 8 points (from 14.6% to 22.5%), following its low score in the European elections of June 9.
