Firefighters have been intervening on Monday, November 25, since around 10 a.m., to secure a gas leak in rue de la Vannerie, in the town center of Châteaubriant. It was caused by the tearing of a gas pipe “medium pressure type” during street work. These have been taking place for several weeks to renew the sanitation networks.

“The leak is still in progress”

There are no victims or people inconvenienced. However, the police present on site (gendarmerie and municipal police) ask residents throughout the street to confine themselves to their homes during the intervention. The security perimeter is established between rue de la Vannerie, de la Victoire and rue Pasteur.

GRDF is currently seeking “the cutting organ”, that is to say the place in the network where the supply to the street can be stopped, explains Lieutenant Yohann Perrot, group leader of the thirteen mobilized firefighters. “We have frozen the situation but the leak is still in progress. »

According to Raphaël Coville, works manager for the company TPC Ouest, the tearing occurred on “a gas connection not listed”.
