the trial of a couple accused of murder preceded by acts of torture

On the night of September 18-19, 2020, firefighters responded to an apartment fire on the fourth floor of a building. A 63-year-old retiree was lying there lifeless, his body bearing multiple traces of violence suffered before his death.

The victim’s autopsy identified numerous trauma to the faceau thoraxas well as traces of burns by a white hot object.

The sixty-year-old would even have had the stapled ears by his torturers, with the aim of extort your bank card code.

These are the “suspicious withdrawals” carried out with the victim’s card on the evening of the incident, and unsuccessful attempts the following day, which put investigators on the trail of a couple who had been in contact with the pensioner shortly before his death.

A terrible encounter

According to West Francethis couple had spent the evening at drink at the victim’s, met at the end of the day in a grocery store.

Neighbors had seen them arrive at the apartment with their dogs then heard the sounds of a dispute.

The man, now aged 36 ans and already convicted thirteen times especially for vols or some extortionsand the wife of 42 answith no criminal record, were arrested immediately. In police custody, they admitted to having assaulted their host to steal his bank card and to having set fire to the apartment.

Both defendants face life imprisonment.

The verdict is expected this Thursday July 4th.
