“No one is better than Spain”, the Spanish press is excited about La Roja

Like the daily newspaper Marca, which believes that no team at Euro 2024 has been more convincing than La Roja, the Spanish media are puffing out their chests the day after Spain’s qualification for the quarter-finals.

A “festival” for Marca, a “recital” according to Mundo Deportivo. The Spanish newspapers are rave this Monday morning the day after Spain’s great victory against Georgia (4-1) in the round of 16 of Euro 2024. A clear and convincing success which sends Luis De La’s players Fuente in the quarter-finals with an explosive duel against the Mannschaft on Friday (6 p.m. in Stuttgart). An XXL shock that Spain is approaching with great confidence if we are to believe the media treatment this Monday morning in the Spanish newspapers.

“No team offers a better face than Spain”

“Germany, you have a problem”, is displayed on the front page of AS with a beautiful photo of joy of Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal, two symbols of triumphant Spanish youth, in great form on Sunday evening against the Georgians. Even if the round of 16 is not yet over, Marca is going even further. “40 matches and no one is better than Spain,” says Roberto Palomar, one of the writers of the Madrid daily. “Teams are facing difficulties and none offer a better face than Spain,” continues the journalist.

If some editorialists puff out their chests, others urge caution as Germany presents itself on the road to La Roja: “On Friday, an ogre awaits,” writes Miguel Angel Lara on the Marca website. With a little historical reminder: never since 1934 has Spain managed to beat the host country of a competition, whether during a Euro or a World Cup.
