What result for the former Prime Minister in the legislative elections?

The result of the former Prime Minister was particularly scrutinized in Calvados. She qualified for the second round, but did not come first.

Elisabeth Borne has resumed her place as deputy for Calvados since her departure from Matignon, recovering her seat in the National Assembly, which was temporarily occupied by her deputy Freddy Sertin. Following the holding of early legislative elections this Sunday and next, Elisabeth Borne represented herself in the 6th constituency of Calvados.

According to initial partial results communicated by the Ministry of the Interior and shared by BFM TV, it is the RN candidate Nicolas Calbrix who comes out on top in the stronghold of Elisabeth Borne with 35.97%, ahead of the former Prime Minister who was running under the banner of the presidential majority. For the time being, Elisabeth Borne is credited with 28.40% of the votes in second place, and will therefore play for her seat at the Palais Bourbon in the second round next Sunday. The results will however be refined during the evening.

The sixth constituency of Calvados is a very stretched territory with the countryside to the south, classified as a rural revitalization zone and to the north a peri-urban area at the gates of Caen. The constituency also includes the Virois bocage and its capital, the Vire Normandie sub-prefecture as well as the town of Condé sur Noireau, a stronghold of industry. Particularities which do not give the former tenant of Matignon absolute serenity for these elections.

“When I was a candidate in the legislative elections, it was important to me to be an elected official who listened to your concerns. In June 2022, I made a promise to you to remain at your service, which I have made when I was Prime Minister (…) Aware of the challenges of our constituency, I am fully determined to continue my commitment to the service of our territory, I will be a candidate in the next legislative elections. she announced in a press release on June 10.

During her campaign, Elisabeth Borne attacked her opponents and in particular the New Popular Front and the National Rally which she considers “unrealistic”, as she declared on France Blue Normandy“We need to propose credible, concrete, rapid solutions. When we promise a dream, it always ends in a nightmare,” she said.

Furthermore, the former Prime Minister presented certain points of her program in the event of re-election. For -.fr, she looked back on her first two years of action in the constituency. “In two years, we have taken concrete action to respond to residents’ concerns: in terms of training young people and meeting the recruitment needs of businesses, thanks to the creation of the ‘Fil en Normandie’ production school in Condé-en -Normandy; for serving the territory, with 10 million euros for improvement work on the Paris-Granville line; for access to care in medical deserts by initiating the medicobus project or for security in our territory by installing a mobile gendarmerie brigade based in Bény-Bocage, which covers Noues de Sienne and Souleuvre en Bocage”, she detailed. She thus assured that she would continue to act for “more quality and local public services, to support our local economy, for our agriculture, for equal opportunities, for our young people as well as for our elders. And finally , for our safety.”

What result in the legislative elections for Elisabeth Borne?

In the Vire-Evrecy constituency, 95,799 voters are called to the polls this Sunday for the first round of these early legislative elections. According to the first partial results communicated by the Ministry of the Interior, Elisabeth Borne comes in second position with 28.40% of the votes, behind Nicolas Calbrix, RN candidate credited with 35.97% of the votes but ahead of the NFP candidate, Noé Gauchard, who obtained 24.18% of the votes cast.

In the 2022 legislative elections, the former head of government won 52.46% of the votes cast against the Nupes candidate, Noé Gauchard. In the first round, she came in first place with 34.3% of the votes cast.

If the presidential majority seemed to be well established in the territory, with the LREM deputy, Alain Tourret, then the former Prime Minister, the European elections reshuffled the cards. Jordan Bardella’s list, in fact, came well ahead with 34% of the votes in the constituency, far ahead of the list of the presidential majority (19.87%). A context which could benefit Nicolas Calbrix while the former Prime Minister could pay the price for her mandate and her countless appeals to 49.3. The 39-year-old opponent, originally from Rouen, estimated that the next election was “a symbol with the presence of Elisabeth Borne, who imposed the pension reform. She is the symbol of Macronie and these elections will sanction Mme Borne and two years of brutality,” he declared to -.fr

In addition, the results of the legislative election polls, which were published until midnight on Friday June 28, tended more towards a victory for the National Rally at the end of the vote with more than 30% of voting intentions, but the The union of the left was only a few points behind, oscillating between 25 and 30%. The presidential majority encountered more difficulty, hovering around 20%. These estimates remain national, not giving local political balance of power and reflecting trends observed at a specific moment.
