It is a name that has left its mark. Jean-Pierre Descombes died at his home on Sunday, June 30, as his son Romain Descombes announced to theAFP. The television man had been suffering from Parkinson’s disease for several years. He withdrew from media life in order to devote himself to his health but he left his mark. In the 1970s and 1980s, Jean-Pierre Descombes was omnipresent on the air of FR3, the former name of France 3. Viewers were able to find him between 1976 and 1987 since he hosted The 8pm Games which have become very popular. During this, general knowledge questions were asked to these celebrities and anonymous people.
After having hosted this cult show for a long time, viewers were able to find Jean-Pierre Descombes behind the camera. He was the voice-over artist for hit entertainment shows in the 1980s and 1990s. We can notably cite: The right price or A gold family
on TF1. In the 2000s, Jean-Pierre Descombes had retrained in hosting shows, galas or events such as the tour of former glories of the 1960s and 1970s entitled Tender age and wooden head in 2012.

In April 2023, the host was transparent about his daily life, which is not always easy. “For 10 years I tried to hide this problem and then it got worse every day” , he began. He then spoke of the day his illness was revealed to the general public, while he was filming a prime alongside Cyril Hanouna. “It was during the evening I was the last to go around 1am and the pills I had taken were no longer effective.” he recalled.
Jean-Pierre Descombes’ health was deteriorating and it was at that moment that he understood that he could no longer hide.When the cameras are there, they can detect a movement that I can hide on a podium or in a big party that I’m hosting, but on TV you can’t…“he lamented. At the time of this interview, the former host had expressed his intention to continue fighting.One day everything is fine, you are the king of the world and then the next day, we don’t know why, you are completely exhausted.”, he explained. The illness took over Jean-Pierre Descombes, who will never be forgotten.
Jean-Pierre Descombes: a sick man but well surrounded
Jean-Pierre Descombes was fighting illness but he said he was well looked after. His first support being his wife. “For her it’s not funnywe relax when we are at home, we don’t have the spring we have when we are on stage”, he explained. The former host then revealed that it was important for his loved ones that he did not appear on television in this state.
“That’s not a picture you should show.”they would have thrown at him. Far from the media coverage, Jean-Pierre Descombes still used his notoriety to talk about his fight. “You have to be stronger than that, you have to resist”, he asserted.
