The Las Vegas Grand Prix ended with a victory for George Russell and a one-two finish for Mercedes, but the last step of the podium went to Carlos Sainz. Charles Leclerc was unable to keep it, with strong anger towards his team.
Thanks to F1 TV Pro and on-board cameras, we have the chance to have access to the drivers' radios. And in the celebration lap at the end of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, we were able to witness Charles Leclerc's strong anger on the radio regarding his treatment and the strategy adopted by his team.
Leclerc, furious with his team at the end of the race
A strong anger from the Monegasque during the “cool lap” after the checkered flag, Leclerc expressed his frustration towards his Ferrari team several times by radio, before apologizing immediately after the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
After crossing the finish line in fourth position, his race engineer, Bryan Bozzi, tried to console him by saying that he had made the right decisions, even if they did not bear fruit.
It was then that on the radio, Leclerc exploded: “Yes as you wish. As always. Yes, I did my job. But being nice always gets me into trouble, all the time, all the time. It's not even being nice, it's just be respectful. I know I should shut up, but at some point it's always the same thing, so, yeah, damn it!”
Leclerc started the race well, moving into second position behind George Russell. He even tried to intimidate her but had to change his mind. Then, the degradation of the tires took its toll, it was no longer possible to hope for a victory for the Ferraris, but the podium could still be possible for Leclerc.
During the race, an instruction was given to Sainz not to overtake Leclerc, as we could hear on the radio. Bryan Bozzi: “Carlos was told not to overtake. He was told not to put yourself under pressure. So just take care of your tires.” Obviously, the Spaniard overtook his teammate, hence Leclerc's sarcastic response: “Maybe try in Spanish!”
