How far away the time is when U2 held the title of highest-grossing tour of all time for eight years. In the last five years, it has been Ed Sheeran, Elton John Then Taylor Swift who have taken over, while many recent tours, from Harry Styles to Coldplay through Guns N’ Roses or Beyoncé, have entered the top 10. A phenomenon due to the growing attraction of the public for live performances as well as the explosion of ticket prices. Thus, according to the report of Pollstar, which takes into account shows given between November 16, 2023 and May 15, 2024, the average price of a ticket increased from 92 to 127 dollars between 2019 and 2024. Between the last two years alone, there is a 9% increase in the price of a ticket (from 116 to 127 dollars) but a 0.7% drop in the number of tickets sold in total. Places too expensive? Excessive offer? In the United States, many artists have difficulty selling their tours, when some even end up canceling them like the Black Keys or Jennifer Lopez.
