A rapid and effective intervention
The first to intervene on the spot were police officers from the anti-crime squad, on patrol nearby. Equipped with a fire extinguisher, they began to fight against the flames, limiting the damage while waiting for the firefighters to arrive. The latter took over and contained the fire, which was believed to be of electrical origin, before it spread beyond the building's common areas.
Seven residents inconvenienced by smoke
Seven residents, residing in apartments on the second and third floor, were inconvenienced by the smoke released by the fire. After checks on carbon monoxide levels in the atmosphere and an examination of those affected, the authorities allowed all occupants to return to their homes.
A neighborhood marked by fires
This disaster is reminiscent of another fire that occurred last August in this same small Saint-Etienne street. The residents of rue de l'Heurton, once again confronted with an incident, welcome the responsiveness of the police and firefighters who made it possible to limit the consequences of this tragedy.
No serious injuries were reported. An investigation is underway to confirm the exact origin of the fire.
