French legislative elections and risk of civil war: what a poll reveals

On Monday June 24, the French president sounded the alarm by declaring that the program of “two extremes” leads “to civil war”. At the microphone of the “Génération Do It Yourself” podcast, Emmanuel Macron assured that the “response of the extreme right” in terms of insecurity “pushes towards civil war because it refers people either to a religion or to a origin”. He then attacked LFI which offers “a form of communitarianism”, “but that is also the civil war behind it”.

But on the voters’ side, is this fear of a risk of civil war shared? According to a BFMTV survey conducted by Elabe, 21% of French people actually agree with Macron’s comments. In addition, 42% of French people think that the LFI program would lead to civil war, compared to 40% who think no less about the RN program.

The RN pointed out

The survey, which dissects voters party by party, reveals a more widely shared fear of the RN. Indeed, 67% of Macronist voters believe that the RN program would lead to civil war. As for New Popular Front voters, 70% of them share this opinion compared to 52% of RN voters.

However, the perception of risk from the BIA program may be less, but it is not absent either. 63% of Macron voters think that his program would lead to civil war, 19% of RN voters and 24% of New Popular Front voters share this opinion.
