It was with sadness that the inhabitants of Compogne and the surrounding area woke up this morning of June 28, upon learning of the death of Julien Guébel, aged 25. Their friend, colleague or acquaintance, from a well-known family in the region and very involved in village life, decided to leave.

Within the Faymonville company in which he worked, he was unanimous. It is said of him that he was more than just a colleague, a friend always of great professionalism.

A few weeks ago, he had to face serious health problems, but he courageously got back up.

Jokester and sportsman at heart

A lifelong sports lover, Julien Guébel enjoyed meeting his friends every week on the football fields. He played in his village club, with the Compogne reserve team. With his undeniable physical qualities, he never failed to impress with his enormous work on the pitch. He was also the entertainer of this group, always trying to make his comrades laugh.

In the area, you could also meet him at the bend of a country road, cycling was a great passion that often filled his free time.

A motor sports enthusiast, he also took part in the 4L Trophy in 2020 (a humanitarian car raid held in Morocco) with a long-time friend.

Julien will be taken to his final resting place on July 1st, at 10 a.m., in the church of Compogne.
