The Internal Security Forces (ISF) announced in a statement on Thursday the arrest of four Syrian nationals suspected of having caused a major forest fire in the Metn region last October. The ISF mention a fire which started “on October 28”. However, according to Civil Defense spokesperson Elie Khairallah, it is probably the same disaster that began to ravage the Metn valley on October 22, from Raboué to Jouret el-Ballout. This fire posed great difficulties for the firefighters to put it out, due to the uneven nature of the terrain.
The four suspects were arrested on November 20, following investigations carried out by the Jdeidé judicial police, add the FSI, who seized “two wood saws in their possession”.
