What surprises me about the Mercosur affair is its duration. has been saying no for 25 years. And we are still at the same point, in the same phases of negotiation and now… very close to a signature that would be imposed on us. So what? For what ? Why isn’t a no a no? Why does a no result in continued negotiations? My naivety is still surprised.

This desire of the Brussels Commission can be compared to the matter of Turkey's entry into the European Community. For the same quarter of a century, we have been saying no, for the same quarter of a century people have been saying no. However, discussions still exist between Brussels and Turkey. Yet we continue to pay billions to this empire.

The list would be long of our refusals and our wishes, but nothing comes. No one takes it into account. For what ? A no is a no, it seems to me.

Does Brussels only know how to submit to the lowest of lobbies or to the most powerful of them? Is he subject to some authority more powerful than himself? Or is it just the general disorganization, the inconsistency, the will of Germany? I don't know.

But in this case we must compare the issues. A winegrower was delighted on TF1 this evening that his wine sold for €10 in France no longer has to suffer 20 and some% tax when it is sold in Argentina. On the other hand, a Vendée breeder explained that his beef cost price was €6/kg, when Argentinian meat cost €2/kg. The choice is quickly made, we must take the side of the breeder.

Automakers are also pushing for the signing of the treaty. Besides the fact that this will primarily benefit the Germans, why don't we remember that Fiat (Stellantis) and Renault already have factories in South America! What do we need from Mercosur?

We petition, we demonstrate, etc. But nothing works. Worse, the representatives of the nation are almost unanimous in refusing this agreement… which will be signed. Is Frexit the only solution? The only solution so that our will and our free choice are finally respected on this matter as on future treaties: in particular that of Ukraine's entry into the European Community… The only solution to regain our sovereignty.

The question of why we lost it remains open. The mediocrity of our political class and its possible complicity with supranational powers seem to me to be the main ones.
