Russia fired an intercontinental ballistic missile from the Astrakhan region on Thursday morning as part of an attack against Ukraine, sparking a strong reaction from Volodymyr Zelensky.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reacted strongly, via his Telegram account, to the Russian attack this Thursday morning which targeted businesses and essential infrastructure in Dnipro, in east-central Ukraine. For the first time in history, Russia used an intercontinental ballistic missile.
“Our crazy neighbor has shown once again what he really is and how much he despises the dignity, freedom and lives of people in general,” stressed the Ukrainian president. A strike which shows “how afraid he is”.
“He is so afraid that he is already using new missiles. And he is looking all over the world for other places to find weapons: sometimes in Iran, sometimes in North Korea. Today a new Russian rocket appeared “All the characteristics – speed, altitude – of intercontinental ballistic missiles,” Zelensky said. “The examinations are currently underway. It is obvious that Putin is using Ukraine as a training ground.”
“Putin is doing everything he can to prevent his neighbor from escaping,” the Ukrainian president concluded this Thursday.
As a reminder, Russia fired an intercontinental ballistic missile from the Astrakhan region on Thursday morning as part of an attack on Ukraine, the Ukrainian Air Force said. This is the first time that Russia has used this type of long-range missile capable of carrying a powerful payload since the start of its large-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
The use of this weapon comes after Ukraine's use on Tuesday and Wednesday of long-range American and British missiles to strike deep into Russian territory, also a first in the conflict, against which Moscow had been warning for months .
