A new park will see the light of day in Strasbourg, something that has not happened for 10 years. This project, supported by the City and the Eurometropolis, was unveiled on Wednesday November 20.
But where will it be exactly?
A park west of the city
The park will be built in the Koenigshoffen district, nestled between the Route des Romans, the Rue de la Charmille and the M351.
The work for this large green space 5,5 hectares will end in September 2025. Ultimately, it will include three areas dedicated to activities, meetings and nature.
A 1,500 m2 playground
The “activities” zone will include, among other things, a pétanque courta basketball table, a football table, picnicbarbecue grills, public toilets, seating facilities.
Note the large 1,500 m2 play area. Designed as a the town (“fortification generally located on a height in the Roman and Gallo-Roman times”, according to the CNRTL website), a nod to the history of the district, it will notably include climbing games, a zip line, a bridge monkey whoseinstallation will begin in May 2025. The ground will be soft to prevent injuries from falls. Seats will also be provided for parents.
Legacy of the Olympic Games
The “meeting” part will receive a pavilion for the 2024 Olympic Games. It is a work that was created by students from INSA Strasbourg, school of architecture, ENSAS and the Compagnons du Devoir. She mentions the three sports of triathlon: cycling, swimming, running.
The last zone, in the southern part, will be vegetated with three refuges for biodiversity.
438 trees will be planted
438 trees will be planted in the park. The young shoots of the Parc des Romans will be diverse. In all, there will be 82 different species.
According to one of the green space employees, “certain species were chosen for their drought resistanceto new climatic conditions, like the Caucasian oak. »
This operation is linked to the 5th season of the Canopée plan, the objective of which is to have 10,000 additional trees by 2030 in Strasbourg.
