kyiv claims that the Russian army used an intercontinental missile to strike the city of Dnipro. This type of weapon has never before been used in conflict.
A first since the start of the Russian invasion? The Ukrainian Air Force said on Thursday, November 21, that Russia had fired an intercontinental ballistic missile at the city of Dnipro, in the east of the country.
“An intercontinental ballistic missile was launched from the Russian region of Astrakhan,” the Air Force said in a statement published on its social networks.
The Kremlin refuses to comment
“This is the first time. We have never had this kind of missile before,” a source within this army told AFP.
With a range of more than 5,500 kilometers, the intercontinental missiles are designed to carry nuclear warheads but can also be armed with a conventional explosive charge.
The Kremlin did not immediately want to comment on this accusation from kyiv. “I have nothing to say on this topic,” said Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, when questioned by media on this subject during a daily briefing.
The Ukrainian army also said it had shot down six Kh-101 cruise missiles fired by Russia during the attack on Dnipro.
